“Would you rather a large group of friends who are mostly acquaintances or a small group of really close friends?”

I’d normally answer that I like the small group of close friends better. Lately though I’m still stuck trying to make friends in my new town and it’s really sad for me. In the last town we lived in, I made friends fairly quickly through the PTA and Girl Scouts. I haven’t had these outlets this time around. I’ve tried joining playgroups and such, but I continue to feel like the outsider when I attend their functions.

Other groups I’ve tried to get involved with online (naturally) seem to meet in places that are not very convenient for me. The members of the groups are often not parents and don’t understand the problems I have getting to meetings on any given evening or even during the day, if they want me to come without kid(s). “Get a babysitter,” I’ll hear. But that’s a little difficult too when you don’t know anyone to ask to babysit.

I’m starting to think I’m meant to be a hermit.

To counteract that feeling I’ve started a group on CafeMom. So, you have to be a mom to join the site in general (if you’re not a mom, I’m not sure why you’d want to join!) and my group is for Writer Mamas in my area. Maybe someone reading this will fit those requirements and decide to join. Jacksonville Florida Writer Mamas on CafeMom.

In any case, I’m wallowing a bit in my loneliness today. I hated moving and leaving good friends behind. We’ve moved twice in two years and it doesn’t really get any easier. I’m just glad my daughter has an easier time making friends than I do!

got up to 11, 879 today. My goal for the day was 11, 667, so i passed my goal once more.

A little cheating involved today since I rewrote a passage I wasn’t happy with, but I left the original in. lol. Oh well. December’s for editing, for now I just write!
