My friend Lynn and I were talking earlier. She mentioned that she’d read my story on the other blog and suggested I look into The Wild Rose Press and think about submitting my stories there. I remember looking at that site awhile back, but I wasn’t writing much fiction then so I didn’t give it much consideration. Now, I look at it and I think I’ll brush up a story to submit there. Harlequin is another I’ve considered, but they take longer stories (as compared to my 17K short story) so it’ll take a little more to have something to submit to them.
Today, I’m buckling down to some of the “real work” of writing. I’m writing some articles on a volunteer basis and working with my contact at the publication to get it right.
Then I’ve also started the process of editing my NaNo-Novel. I’ve discovered that easily half of what I wrote in November will probably get thrown out the window…how frustrating! Hopefully, I’ll be able to work some of the ‘throw out’ scenes into the story at later points. My problem is that I wrote easily 5 or 6 scenes before my hero and heroine ever meet. If you know romance novels, you know that doesn’t work! (At least not for category romance, like Harlequin.) So, I’m going back to the drawing board, starting the story with the scene where Rose and Duncan meet up. We’ll see where it goes from there.
