The kids finished dropping dough on one tray and then went to play trains with Daddy and watch the Packers play. heh. Guess I’ll finish the cookies by myself.

So, it hasn’t gone the way I expected so far. In the morning, I thought we would play cars or trains (or both) until breakfast. Instead the kids played wii and didn’t need me or Topher, so he and I had some breathing room this morning. Time to fix coffee and check email.

I fixed waffles with X’s help. I thought J would want to help too, but she opted to play the wii. Do wii see a theme?

After breakfast was cleaned up, we all got dressed, the kids played a bit more wii (I think…I was on the phone with my cuz) and then we went to Magnet Manie to learn more about J’s school options next year.

We made a quick stop at home after that to pick up swimsuits, towels and a few other random things then we went to have lunch at Wendy’s. No, that wasn’t on the original schedule, but it had rained pretty heavily this morning. We didn’t want the kids to get all wet at the nearby outdoor McD’s playground, so we skipped eating at the Golden Arches. The kids got frosties instead of ice cream cones. They were happy.

We drove the twenty minutes to the pool, only to find we’d manage to arrive midway through their lunch hour, when the pools are closed. Frustrating that we’d forgotten. Frustrating that we’d wasted the gas to drive out there. The kids renegotiated the rest of the afternoon.

We went to the store to get the things we needed for dinner and the kids picked out a movie to watch tonight. When we got home, we played two games of Chutes and Ladders…well, 1 and a half, before X got tired of playing and wandered off to play the wii.

Once the rest of us finished the boardgame, the kids both wanted to play the wii some more, which gave Toph and I some break time. I read a book on the couch, and he flipped between playing with the kids and checking email.

Now, Toph is mixing cookies with the kids while I sit nearby to write this. Soon, it’ll be my turn. I shape the cookies and bake them. I know the kids will help with that too. Then I guess we’ll start dinner.

We talked about having a dinner movie theater…sounds like the best way to fit the movie into the day….

It’s not been so bad so far. They haven’t been little tyrants demanding our full attention at all times. It’s actually gone much like any other weekend, since we always try to do things the kids enjoy on the weekends. Still, there have been little differences that do show.

Now if I could just get my hip flexors to loosen up so functioning didn’t hurt so much. That and my fingers being stiff….weather must be changing.
