In the end, the kids were up too late. We did have a dinner movie theater, but X didn’t like the movie we were watching (it was scary in parts for him - this from the kid who loves Harry Potter 1 and 2!) so we put in one of his short movies for him while he finished dinner. He dragged dinner out for as long as he could.

Since the kids were up so late, Toph and I didn’t get to start our movie until past 10, so we were up way too late. Now, this morning, everyone was up by 8am and X is cranky and Toph and I are both groggy. J isn’t behaving too bad this morning, at least.

In looking back, I think we’ll put restrictions on ‘Kids Rule Day’ if we do it again. A good one would be that we have to stay at home to do things, except one jaunt out for swimming or a meal out. But we did so much driving yesterday that it seemed to take the fun out of having the kids decide what we did for the day. We tried to plan ahead what we would do, but I think except for planning that one trip out, it might be more fun to be more spontaneous. I also think letting each kid have a day of their own would be fun, instead of listening to them bicker about what we will do next.

In all, it was a good day. I would be willing to do it again.

The topic has come up in more than one forum that I’m a member of: Do I dare post my writing online on a public blog? For myself, I did. I do. I have Creative Common licenses on both. It doesn’t protect me from thieves, necessarily, but it does give me a little more leg to stand on if it ever comes down to a legal battle. Or I’d like to think it does.

Inky Girl pointed out an article from The Washington Post that talks about big corporations stealing pictures posted online…something to consider when posting your own family photos and fun snapshots online.

The reality is that if you post words or pictures online, it’s exceptionally easy for people to copy them, to use them for their own purposes. What’s easier than right clicking and copying the text to your own computer? There are ways to stop it, as Brownielocks and 3 Bears show here. I may have to look into some of those suggestions for ‘No Right Click Coding” on my Muse blog.

The thing is, I want to share my writing. I want others to read it, to help bring it to life. But I’d really like to get credit for it if someone finds it so compelling they have to use it too. Credit and maybe some money. heh. Will Write For Cash. Ok, not as compelling as some other phrases. Oh well. I’ll have to work on that.

A post by Cavaroc at Photography Phocus has a different view on photo-nabbing. In the opinion of Cavaroc, you should let people use your photos…it’s a high compliment and free advertising to boot. I think that’s ok, if the links run back to you and interested parties know you were the creator of the photo or words written. Too often the links get broken and the person who took the photo even forgets where they found it. What do you think?
