However, a couple of years ago, we went into saving mode too for other reasons. The cables/satellite was the first thing to go and I have to say - good riddance. We never got hooked up again. We did take more care with our groceries budget, opting for large packages where it saved money. I'm not sure about the US, but over here you can have milk in this kind of a plastic bag instead of a carton and it's about 30% cheaper so we switched to those. You hold them in a plastic container and it's very easy to use, so we stayed with those as well. Back then, we started a vegetable garden as well.
